How to Justify Your Investment in the Permanent Jewelry Expo
Andy Jensen
Director
The Permanent Jewelry Expo (or PJX) is scheduled for June 4-6, 2024 at the iconic Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The regular registration fee is $795 (which includes all education, networking, marketplace, cocktail reception, swag, and some meals). PJ artists in the know can book early and save $200 when they register before January 31, 2024.
The registration fee represents a sizable investment in your business, more for some and less for others. Either way, you must be able to justify the expense. Allow me to help you see a return on your investment.
What is One Course Worth?
PJX 2024 will offer between 15 and 20 different, 90-minute educational courses. You'll be able to choose to attend courses on welding, marketing, sales, operations, motivation, and more. As you preview the courses (and this list will continue to grow), you're going to see several that will help you fill a gap within your own set of experiences and knowledge.
You have to ask yourself, "What are these courses worth?" In other words, envision how this additional knowledge and skillset will help your business. Without doubt, even one course has the possibility of paying you back a hundred times more than what you'll pay.
And that's just one course! PJX will offer as many as 20.
What is a Mentor Worth?
Hundreds of PJ artists just like you will be in attendance, each excited to meet and learn from others. You'll have ample opportunity to rub shoulders with the brightest in the industry. And, conversely, others will have the opportunity to learn from you. We all have something to share that another will find valuable.
What is the value of finding a mentor at PJX who can guide you on your journey? Being able to leverage a mentor's experience to avoid pitfalls is worth thousands, if not tens of thousands.
What is a Knowledgeable Supplier Worth?
PJX sports the world's largest permanent jewelry marketplace. Each marketplace vendor is an expert within the field of products they offer. It is an easy wager to say if you spoke to each vendor you'll walk away with a golden nugget of information that could significantly impact your business.
Don't make the mistake of looking at PJX sponsors as nothing more than people that want to sell you something. Look at a sponsor as an organization that knows something you need to know. Chat with the sponsors and ask lots of questions. Sponsors want to sell and they also want to help. What they have to say could save you thousands or make you thousands.
Grandpa Said, "You Get What You Pay For"
Like your grandpa, mine would run a hand through is thick grey hair, take a breath and say, "you get what you pay for." If the registration fee were half the price two things would happen:
First, the Expo would be held in Uncle Bob's backyard with Cousin Eddie cooking dogs and burgers. While Uncle Bob keeps his yard nice and Cousin Eddie can grill without burning the place down, that's not the experience the permanent jewelry industry wants to adopt. You've seen fly-by-night competitors in your market that give the industry a bad name. PJX is professional event for professional PJ artists.
Second, the educational portion of the event would suffer. PJX can draw the best instructors because there is a demand for the best. Your tuition is helping to attract the brightest talent within the industry.
Affordable Lodging
Planet Hollywood is providing two important parts to the success of the Expo. The convention facilities are fabulous and easy to get to. And the room rate ($129/night with NO resort fee) is equally fabulous. Las Vegas is customarily easy to get to from anywhere in the world with affordable flights. I would estimate that your total travel budget for PJX could be less than $1,000!
